Views
Views define the columns of your title lists: the heading of each column, the ONIX field it reads, its order and its width — separately for ONIX 2.1 and ONIX 3 catalogues. Columns are built from a list of ready-made field types (ISBN 13, EAN, publication date, cover image…) and the standard eight-column layout can be restored at any time.
Where to find it
- Settings menu: Views. Route:
/preferences/views. - Visible to accounts with access to Preferences.
Screen overview
- Cancel and Save — enabled once something changed. Manage Views (named views) is reserved for a later release.
- Tabs — Manage columns (ONIX 2.1) and Manage columns (ONIX 3): two independent lists.
- Buttons — Reset, Move up / Move down (a row selected), Add, Delete (a row selected).
- Table — a selector circle, then Order, Caption (editable), Field (with a … button to change it) and Width (editable).
How to add a column
- Open the tab of the ONIX version to change and click Add.
- In the Define view field dialog, pick a field type: ISBN 13, EAN, Creation date, Last modification date, Cover image, Number of pages, Language of text, Publication status, Publication date, ONIX audience code, ePUB type (ONIX 2.1 only) or Product form detail. The ONIX tag field shows the tag or XPath the column will read.
- Adjust the Caption (pre-filled with the type's default). For fields that can hold several values, choose Show first or Show all (separated) under If multiple values.
- Click OK. The column is appended with the next order number and no width.
- Click Save.
How to change, rename, resize or reorder columns
- Change the field: click the … button in the Field cell, pick another type, OK.
- Rename: type in the Caption cell.
- Resize: type a number in the Width cell.
- Reorder: click the circle at the start of the row, then Move up or Move down. Order numbers are rewritten automatically.
- Remove: select the row and click Delete; the remaining rows are renumbered.
Then click Save. Nothing is written before that; Cancel asks All modifications will be lost. Do you want to proceed? and reloads the saved layout.
How to restore the default layout
Click Reset on the tab to restore and confirm (This will replace the current columns with the default set. Do you want to proceed?), then Save. The default layout is: Ref, Title, ISBN, ISBN 13/EAN, Product form, Author, Subject, Availability.
Tips
- A column defined with the future Specific ONIX tag or Custom field pickers shows the notice This field was defined with an advanced picker that isn't available yet. You can edit its caption; the field itself is preserved.
- The two tabs are fully independent: selection, ordering and Reset apply to one ONIX version at a time.
Frequently asked questions
Do my changes apply immediately?
No. Every edit on this page is staged until you click Save.
Why are "Specific ONIX tag" and "Custom field" greyed out in the field list?
Those two advanced pickers are not available yet. Columns previously defined with them keep their field and can still be renamed.
What does "Show all (separated)" mean?
For a field that can hold several values, such as audience codes, the column shows every value instead of only the first.
Does Reset affect both ONIX versions?
No. Reset only replaces the columns of the tab you are on, and takes effect when you click Save.
Where are named or saved views?
The Manage Views button is marked Coming soon in this release.
