Sign in and password
ONIXEDIT Cloud runs in your browser: open the address your organisation uses (https://cloud4.onixedit.com/ for the hosted platform), sign in with the e-mail address and password of your ONIXEDIT account, and you land on the title list of your first catalogue. This page covers the sign-in form and its messages, the language selector, the password reset, session expiry and signing out.
Where to find it
- The sign-in form is the
/loginpage, the first screen of ONIXEDIT Cloud. Its Forgot your password? link opens/reset-password. - Links from the ONIXEDIT Dashboard or the ONIXEDIT website (
/auto-login,/sso-login) open ONIXEDIT Cloud already signed in; you never type those addresses yourself. - Everybody uses the same form, account owner and users created in Manage Users alike. What you may do afterwards depends on the rights granted on each catalogue — see Locked titles and rights.
Screen overview

The form has a Username field, a Password field, a Language selector and the Login button. Under it sit the Forgot your password? link and, when ONIXEDIT has one to show, a service notice (maintenance, new version).
How to sign in
- Type your e-mail address in Username and your password in Password.
- Pick your language in Language if needed — it applies immediately.
- Click Login. The button reads Logging in... until the server answers, then the title list of your first catalogue opens. Use the catalogue selector of the top bar to switch to another one (see The workspace).
If the sign-in fails, the message under the form tells you why:
| Message | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid username or password. | The e-mail address or the password is wrong. | Check both, then use Forgot your password? if needed. |
| Your account is temporarily blocked. Please try again in a few moment. | Too many failed attempts locked the account. | Wait a few minutes and try again. |
| A server error occurred. Please contact your administrator. | The server could not process the request. | Try again later; contact ONIXEDIT support if it persists. |
| Your account is currently using the classic version of ONIXEDIT Cloud. | Your account has not been migrated to this version. | Follow the here link in the message to the classic ONIXEDIT Cloud. |
| Your ONIXEDIT Cloud Trial has not been activated yet. | Your trial was created but not activated. | Follow the here link in the message to the ONIXEDIT website and activate it. |
| Too many users (dialog, once signed in) | More people are signed in with your account than your subscription allows. | You are signed out. Ask another user to sign out, or let the account owner buy more simultaneous users. |
On platforms where single sign-on with the other ONIXEDIT applications is enabled, a link that cannot reuse the shared sign-in shows We could not sign you in. Your session may have expired, or your account may not have access to ONIXEDIT Cloud. with a Try signing in again button; otherwise a failed link simply lands on the regular form.
How to reset a forgotten password

- On the sign-in page, click Forgot your password?.
- Type the e-mail address of your account in Email and click Reset password. < Go back to login returns to the form without sending anything.
- Password reset link sent! Please check your mail. confirms the e-mail was sent. An unknown address shows This user does not exist in the database. instead.
- Open the link in the e-mail. Where it takes you depends on who owns the password:
- Account owners (the person who subscribed) manage their password on the ONIXEDIT website: the link opens the website's reset page. Follow it there.
- Users created in Manage Users reset it in ONIXEDIT Cloud: the link opens the Choose new password form. Type your Email, a New password and the same value in Confirm new password, then click Save new password. The eye icon reveals what you typed.
- Sign in with the new password. Your password has been updated. Please login with your new password. confirms the change.
The link is valid for a short time (15 minutes for users created in Manage Users); once expired, the form answers Reset password token invalid or expired. Please request a new one. — start again from step 1. A password shorter than 7 characters is refused with This password does not meet the minimum requirements, and a mismatch shows Confirmation password is different!.
To change your password while signed in, use Change my password in the Settings menu of the top bar (see Manage Users).
How to choose the language
The Language selector of the sign-in and reset forms offers English, Español, Français and Português. The choice is stored in your browser and reused every time you open ONIXEDIT Cloud on that computer; the first time, the language of your browser is used, with English as the fallback. Once signed in, the Language menu of the top bar changes the interface language and, separately, the language of the ONIX code lists — see The workspace.
What happens when a session expires
Your session is stored in the browser and checked on every page change and every request to the server:
- An expired session sends you back to the sign-in page. Nothing unsaved survives, so save your work in the entry form regularly (Ctrl+S). When you arrived through another ONIXEDIT application, ONIXEDIT Cloud first tries once to renew the session silently and brings you back to the page you were on.
- A request refused for lack of rights shows the Insufficient rights dialog — You have insufficient rights to execute this action — and reloads the page; you stay signed in.
- The Too many users dialog signs you out as soon as you close it.
Rights are read at sign-in: if a catalogue or a menu entry you were just granted does not appear, sign out and back in.
How to sign out
Click the Logout icon at the right end of the top bar, or the Logout entry at the bottom of the side panel on a narrow screen. ONIXEDIT Cloud clears the session from the browser and shows the sign-in form. A session opened through another ONIXEDIT application is ended there too, so that application asks for your credentials again.
Tips
One account, several people
Each user created in Manage Users has their own e-mail and password. Sharing one set of credentials is what triggers Too many users — see Manage Users.
Closing the tab does not sign you out
The session lives in the browser until it expires or you click Logout. On a shared computer, always sign out.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the sign-in page say "Invalid username or password" when I am sure of both?
The username is the e-mail address of your ONIXEDIT account and the password is case-sensitive. If you still cannot sign in, use "Forgot your password?" to set a new one.
My password reset e-mail sends me to onixedit.com, not to ONIXEDIT Cloud. Is that normal?
Yes. Account owners manage their password on the ONIXEDIT website, so their link opens the website's reset page. Only users created in Manage Users reset their password inside ONIXEDIT Cloud.
Why was I sent back to the sign-in page while I was working?
Your session expired or the server rejected it. Sign in again; unsaved changes in the entry form are lost, so save regularly.
What does "Too many users" mean?
More people are signed in with your account than your subscription allows. You are signed out; ask another user to sign out, or let the account owner buy more simultaneous users on onixedit.com.
Where is my language choice kept?
In your browser. ONIXEDIT Cloud remembers the interface language per browser, so choose it again on another computer or after clearing the browser data.
