Actions on titles
The Actions dropdown of the title list runs operations on many titles at once: imports and exports, deletion, locking, default values, error lists, reports, Transmit to Partners, partner post actions and the ONIXEDIT Bookstore. Every action targets the selected titles, else the current search results, else the whole catalogue, and asks for confirmation first.
Where to find it
- The Actions dropdown is the third control of the toolbar of the title list (inside the Filter / Search / Actions panel below 960 px). It goes back to empty once an action is launched.
- Each entry appears only when you hold the right it needs and when the catalogue offers it (table below). Long actions run as background tasks that you follow in the Notifications menu of the top bar.

How the target of an action is decided
- If titles are selected (on any page), the action applies to the selection; Clear selection shows the count.
- Otherwise, if a full-text search, an advanced search or an A-Z letter is active, it applies to the current search — the titles counted by the paginator.
- Otherwise it applies to all the titles of the catalogue, and the confirmation starts with "There is currently no product selected".
Exports and reports started from a search or from the whole catalogue are capped at a number of titles set by your administrator; when the cap applies, the confirmation says that only the first titles are taken. With an empty list and no selection, an action that needs titles shows the No products dialog (No products selected or found).

How to delete several titles
- Select the titles, or run the search that lists exactly what you want to delete. With no selection and no search, the whole catalogue is targeted.
- Choose Delete selected products.
- Read the Confirmation dialog: it states the target (Do you really want to delete all selected products:, Do you really want to delete all products from the current search? or Do you really want to delete all products from this catalogue?) and the number of titles.
- Tick I understand that this action is irreversible! — the confirm button stays disabled until you do — then click Yes, I want to delete N products from my catalogue (N is the count). No cancels.
- The list refreshes and the selection is cleared.
How to lock or unlock titles
- Select the titles. Lock and unlock work on the selection only; with none, the No selection dialog says There is no current selection.
- Choose Lock selected products or Unlock selected products and confirm Do you really want to lock selected title(s)? (or … unlock …), followed by the count.
- Locked rows turn orange with a padlock. What stays editable on a locked title is described in Locked titles and rights.
How to edit the default values of the catalogue
Choose Edit default values. An Instructions dialog reminds you that the values you save in the form pre-fill every new title; click OK to open them in the entry form. See Edit default values.
How to generate an error list
- Select the titles or run a search; with neither, the whole catalogue is covered.
- Choose Generate error list for selected products and confirm (Do you want to generate error list for all selected products?, … for all products from the current search? or … for all products in this catalogue?).
- A Generate error list task starts. Open the Notifications menu to follow it and download the file listing every validation error of the titles. See Title validation.
How to post titles to a partner action
When the catalogue has POST actions defined for your partners, the menu ends with Post Selected Products to. Click it to unfold the actions (their caption follows the interface language, English or French), pick one and confirm. The confirmation names the scope like every other action: the current selection with its count (Do you want to post the current selection to this partner?), the current search, or the whole catalogue up to the task limit. The transmission then runs on the server as a Transmission to partners task. POST actions are set up in Transmit to Partners.
How to send titles to the ONIXEDIT Bookstore
Choose Send selected products to Shopify. ONIXEDIT Cloud first checks the imports left on your Bookstore plan: with none, the No remaining imports! dialog appears. Otherwise confirm the target, then the second dialog recalls your plan and the remaining imports and offers Confirm transmission of N product(s) to your Shopify store. See ONIXEDIT Bookstore.
Tips
Check the count before you confirm
The confirmation of deletions, locks and Bookstore sends shows the number of titles. If it is not what you expect, click No and review the selection with Show selected products.
Clearing the selection clears the search too
Clear selection removes the selection and the current searches, so the next action targets the whole catalogue. Re-run the search before launching an action on a subset.
Frequently asked questions
Which titles does an action apply to?
The selected titles if any are selected; otherwise the results of the current search or index filter; otherwise the whole catalogue. The confirmation message always says which case applies.
Why does the Actions menu show fewer entries than my colleague's?
Entries are gated by your rights on the catalogue (Add, Modify, Delete, Lock/Unlock, Edit default values) and by the catalogue itself (ONIX version, Bookstore activation, partner post actions).
Can I undo a bulk delete?
No. The confirmation asks you to tick that you understand the action is irreversible. Export the titles first if you may need them again.
Where does the error list go?
It is produced by a background task. Open the Notifications menu of the top bar to follow it and download the file when it is done.
