Earlier this week, BISG announced its endorsement of a "Countdown calendar" to bring the US book industry up to the ONIX 3.0 standard. This followed Amazon's official announcement that it will stop accepting ONIX 2.1 feeds as it will require ONIX 3.0 for printed books metadata at the end of 2020.
This important change for the book industry is welcome by EDItEUR (the international group responsible for the ONIX standard) as well. But what does it mean for ONIXEDIT users?
Well, nothing to worry about! In fact, ONIXEDIT is compliant with ONIX 3.0 almost from the beginning of our activities. In 2011, we were the first to provide an automatic ONIX 2.1 to ONIX 3.0 converter. Since that time, all our systems (ONIXEDIT regular, Pro, Cloud, Server, Converter, Scheduler and Automated Ingestion Agent) are compliant with the ONIX 3.0 standard and can automatically convert your ONIX 2.1 files to ONIX 3.0.
Consequently, ONIXEDIT users don't have to worry with that short countdown. We'll continue to improve our ONIX for books metadata services and we'll keep our lead position to ease your life as we have always done since 2010.
